An unsheltered person worn to the bones, deflated in spirit on a bench in my home town - a familiar scene on benches across America.
Early in the morning, I stopped to asked if he needed help or wanted breakfast. He said no.
So I sat with him and asked how he was doing. I’ve asked this same person the same question a dozen times over the last couple of years. Today he gave me a different answer, “I’m ready to go into treatment.” I made a call to arrange a ride and get him on his way - he’s ready for change. Don’t give up on helping those who have lost their way.
